Hyderabad: A dream, which Sujatha had seen with her fiancée for over the past 5 years, took a cruel turn on January 7.

According to the Times Of India report, on January 7, the young bride-to-be landed at the Newark airport and met by a bunch of US Customs and Border Protection officers.

They whisked her away into a cramped interrogation room, found University of Farmington documents in her luggage. After 10 hours they asked her to go back to India now and do not return for five years.

After multiple rounds of scrutiny at Dubai and Hyderabad airports, she was back to home in India after 3 days.

Later, her boyfriend-turned-fiancée had called off the engagement. Sai wasn’t sure if a long-distance relationship would work. Also, he had aged parents to support. So, returning to India, only to marry Sujatha wasn’t an option.

She’s locked herself up in the house and isn’t speaking to anyone. People talking only about the two of them, has made things more difficult for her parents and her,’ said a shattered uncle, Srinivas.

The documents which Sujatha signed before being deported indicates that she admitted to having committed an ‘F1 visa fraud’ and agreed to be removed from the United States under the Expedited Removal provision.

But her uncle says that she did not know anything about the documents until she landed in the city.

Her uncle said that in Newark, Sujatha was just instructed to sign them without asking questions and it was only at the Hyderabad airport that this 10-page document was handed over to her.

‘Once she saw the papers, she also realised that she had been barred from re-entering the US for a period of five years,’ he added.
